HOLDING OUT FOR HEROES
I'm conscious that last time I mentioned it on here, I was pretty hacked off with Heroes. I'm following the second season, currently airing Monday nights in the US.
Well, we're eight or nine episodes in now, and following a terrible false start (read more about that, here) I'm glad to say it's been worth my while sticking with the show. I won't go into details, but this week's episode was fantastic - rehabilitating the likes of Bennet, Parkman and Suresh, all of whom had been terribly served by recent storylines (the latter two in particular, becoming Molly's "gay dads"). I love the fact that Bennet - who has no super powers (at least for the timebeing) - is back to being the most formidable, feared character in the whole show.
That said, I think I'm still more excited by series two of Dexter which has done just incredible things in terms of progressing characterisation and plot. That's despite Jaime Murray off of Hustle turning in a rather gummy performance.

Yes, Heroes really did get off to a 6-episode run of stinkers, didn't it? It reminded me of Lost's third season... and the turnaround seems to be in effect. Shame season 2 might only be 12-episodes long due to the WGA strike, though!
Or is that a good thing? Dexter's only 12 episodes long and I haven't seen a more confident, consistently good show in ages. Great second season! I only wish it wasn't tucked away on FX here in the UK! Buy it Channel 4!

The same Channel 4 that bumped Six Feet Under later and later (and did the same for The Sopranos, let us not forget) and never even bothered to show the final season of Homicide: Life on the Street? Be careful what you wish for... and I can't see C4 showing this at a time when people are awake. If they even buy it.
Mind you, I kept missing Dexter so I just let it go... which still gives it the edge over Journeyman (it's not its fault that's on at the same time as 30 Rock).
And I haven't found the first six episodes of Volume Two as bad as some say, but still...

Glad season 2 of Dexter is good, the first season was definitely one of the best things on telly this year.
