ITV AT 50

50 years ago, a cynical BBC put Grace Archer to the sword, launching the first salvo in what would become a daily, if not hourly, conflict with the powers of independent television. But throughout the battle, ITV has bullishly pursued popularity, changing the face of British television as a result. Grace, it seems, died in vain.
